Technology Bytes was offered a chance to try out the MA450i Noise Isolating In-ear Headphones from RHA.
Out of the box, these headphones are quite impressive. The headphones are made with solid aluminium and feature a braided cable which makes the headphones much easier to keep from tangling. Overall, the construction seems quite durable.
Included with the headphones are seven pairs of soft silicone ear-tips. This makes it much more likely you will find a comfortable fit for your ear as opposed to the “one size fits all” typ of headphones offered by many manufacturers.
What we really liked about the MA450i was the combination inline microphone/remote giving us control over volume as well as easy track selection and the ability to use the headphones on the iPhone for phone calls. From reading the documentation it appears these control are compatible with most Apple devices, giving you control over playback on iPods and iPads.
Of course a nice fitting set of headphones, made well and sporting nifty features means nothing if they can’t deliver good audio quality.
We tested the MA450i on an iPhone 5 and the audio playback was outstanding. At low volume it seemed a bit tinny, but when pushed up to 1/3 volume and above they produced rich and vibrant sound seemed to belie their affordable price point.
If you’re looking for an affordable and versatile alternative to your factory provided Apple headphones, the RHA MA450i is definitely worth checking out. You can order them directly from Apple by clicking here.
